As indicated in a small 1983 ‘Looking Back’ section of the Cumberland Times-News, Wilbur Wright spent a night in Cumberland. As is well known, Wilbur, with his brother Orville, made aviation history as the first to fly a heavier-than-air machine at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in December of 1903 and thus began the aerial revolution. The brief newspaper article stated the following:
50 YEARS AGO (From 1983)
Thursday, October 26, 1933
