The Cumberland Pilots Club, composed of a group of area pilots, was organized in 1938 as a combined effort to further the progress of local aviation and to associate socially by hosting and flying together to various fly-in breakfasts. A 1938 photograph of the club members included Woodrow Rayburn, Bill Rannells, Ben Franklin, Ronald Landis, Arthur Lyem, Wyatt Breneman, Arthur Amick, Randolph Millholand, Louis Helman, and Bobby Deffibaugh. A later photograph taken in1941 identifies Fred Jenkins, John Parks, Harold Armstrong, Wade Berg, Bob Diggs, Merl and Elsie Cobler, James Messick, Eewald Ruehl, Roy Henly, Ronald Landis, and William Swartzwelder. These individuals were at the forefront of the many aviation oriented folks in our area.
