Mexico Farms

When the Army Air Service was looking for emergency landing fields between Dayton, Ohio and Washington, DC, local aviator Captain Arthur Hammond Amick recommended a farming community a few miles outside of Cumberland, on the south side of the Potomac River. That was in 1923, and ever since, Mexico Farms Airport, FAA Location Identifier 1W3, has continued to be popular among local aviators. Much of its rich history is described in Wings Over Cumberland.
