The photographs below were taken in early November 1985, shortly after what later became known as the “Election Day Flood.” Following nearly a week of rain, among the hardest hit areas were those along the South Branch of the Potomac River. These photographs show some of that flooding, between the West Virginia towns of Springfield and Romney.
